Lawrence lists Louisville among favorites
Kendial Lawrence, a three-star running back from Rockwall, TX, has Louisville on his short list of favorites. Rated the No. 91 running back prospect nationally, the 5-9, 177-pound Lawrence is also thinking about tripping to Louisville next month. A shifty back, Lawrence, who says he "has good vision, quick feet and likes to score touchdowns," earned first team All-State honors as a junior after rushing for 1,734 yards and 21 touchdowns. That performance has already earned him a pair of BCS-caliber offers and he's hoping more are on the way. "I have three offers right now from Kansas, Buffalo and Arizona," said Lawrence. "I'm going to Iowa State's camp on July 23 and I know I'm going to make unofficial visits to Arizona and Kansas this summer before school starts." Louisville is also showing interest in Lawrence and wants the talented running back to attend their camp next month, along with teammates Drew Hollingshead, Austin Moss and Ryan Mosby. "Coach Tony (Alford) is pretty cool," Lawrence said. "He's talked about us coming up there to their camp and working out with them. I guess they want to see me in person working out. I'm thinking about going up there for their camp. I'll make that decision in the next two weeks. I just have to talk to my parents about it." Louisville, said Lawrence, currently rates as one of his four favorites. "That's probably my top four – Arizona, Kansas, Iowa State and Louisville," Lawrence said. "I'm kind of on the same page with all of them." Here's what Lawrence said about his four favorites: Louisville: "It's a nice school and everything and I've thought about playing there before." Iowa State: "I've heard it's nice up there and they run the ball. Their coach told me they have a great offense. I've talked with the running back coach and he told me I'll fit right in." Kansas: "They have a mobile offense and they like to run and pass." Arizona: "I don't know too much about them but what I hear it's a pretty good place and they have a good football team." Academics, location and an opportunity for early playing time will be some of the important factors that will help Lawrence eventually make his college decision. "I'm looking for a good education and a (good) community and a place where I will get to play," Lawrence said. "I've played in a wing-t and a shotgun offense and it really doesn't matter what kind of offensive system I play in."
