JUCO DE taking close look at Louisville

Darius Hart

Louisville signed Josh Wiley out of Pearl River (MS) C.C. last year. Now the Cardinals are looking to score again with current Pearl River star DE Darius Hart. Hart just returned from Oklahoma State and Louisville is next up on the 6-6, 250-pound standouts visit schedule.

"I enjoyed my visit to Oklahoma State but as far as my recruitment I'm still open and I haven't made a decision yet," Darius Hart said. "I'm going to Louisville (Oct.) 25th and I'm going to Kansas State Nov. 15."

Hart will graduate in December. Oklahoma State, Louisville and Kansas State appear to have the inside track, though one SEC school still factors into the mix of things.

"I might visit Ole Miss but those are the three for the most part right now," Hart said.

Darius Hart will visit Louisville later this month.

So what does Hart like about his three favorites? Here's what he had to say about each program:

Louisville: Louisville is a good school with a good tradition. They do a good job up there and I like what they do with the football program. I like that they win."

Kansas State: "I want to find out more about Kansas State because I don't know a whole lot about them. But I liked what they talk about and I want to see what they have to offer when I go up there."

Oklahoma State: "I'd say they're probably leading a little bit right now but I haven't taken my other visits. I felt comfortable in that atmosphere. I like what they do as far as innovations and preparations in their program."

While the Cowboys hold a slight edge, Hart plans to let his recruitment play out – and make a few more visits – before making a decision. Finding a situation where he'll be able to play right away next season is a major consideration.

"Going in and playing is the main thing," said Hart. "I look at their depth chart and where I fit in and the plan that the coaches have for me is important. The relationship I have with the coach is also important. It would be good to go in and start right away but just having the opportunity to come in and have a chance to earn a starting job is important."

Hart said Oklahoma State and Louisville have made positive impressions in terms of the opportunities they've presented during the recruiting process.

"Oklahoma State has a good strength and conditioning plan for me to bulk up if I go there and I like what they're doing on defense scheme-wise because it fits my playing ability," Hart said. "Louisville has also talked to me about coming in and fighting for a starting job. They say I have a chance to come in and start if I work hard and learn the system."

COACH SPEAK
Pearl River (MS) C.C. coach Tim Hatten on Darius Hart: "He's a good player. He came to us as a wide receiver out of high school. He was long and lean and we moved him to linebacker. But we didn't feel like he was a linebacker so we moved him to defensive end at the end of last season to use his speed on the corner and it has worked out well for us. He's a run stopper too; he's not just an edge rusher. He's a complete defensive end."
