Louisville first offer for Leon Shorter
A 6-foot-2, 180-pound wide out, Leon Shorter received his first offer from Louisville a while back after catching 35 passes for 903 yards and nine touchdowns as a junior. He's rated one of the Top 100 prospects in Florida by Scout.com. "It was a surprise the offer from Louisville," Shorter said. "I never thought I'd be in the position I am. So it surprised me when they told me I had an offer from Louisville." Shorter has plans to attend Louisville's camp in June and get an up-close look at the Cardinals football program. "I'm planning on flying up to Louisville for a camp this summer," Shorter said. "It's in June. I'm going to Ohio to visit someone and then I'm going to down to Louisville." Shorter recently attended South Florida's spring game where he had an opportunity to talk with the Bulls coaches. It appears that a second Big East program is close to offering Shorter. "South Florida said they were going to offer me when I went to their spring game," said Shorter. "I have a teammate that goes there and it's looking good." An honorable mention All-State selection last season, Shorter brings some valuable skills to the wide receiver position. "I'm not afraid to go inside in traffic to get the ball and I don't hesitate to go up into the air to get the ball," Shorter said. "It's natural to me. It's what I do." Shorter said he also plans to attend camps at Tennessee, Florida, Florida State, USF this summer. Those schools, along with Illinois, Auburn, UCLA and Southern Miss, are currently showing Shorter interest. Shorter said USF is recruiting him the hardest right now. "I want to make my college decision after the season," Shorter said. "I don't want to decide too early. I want to take all my visits and make the best decision for me. Education is the most important factor for me. If I don't make it in football I want to have a good education."
