Favor hoping for Louisville offer

Favor hoping for Louisville offer

Arsenio Favor, a dual-threat quarterback from Millbrook (AL) Stanhope Elmore already has offers from Southern Miss and Arkansas. Favor attended Louisville's senior camp and hopes his performance will result in an offer from the Cards.

Arsenio Favor, a 6-2, 190-pound dual-threat quarterback, was one of the most impressive prospects at Louisville's senior camp Sunday at PJCS football complex.

"It was a real good experience," Favor said. "I really liked it. I liked the athletic center. I liked the campus and it's not that far away from home. I got a lot of one-on-one attention with the coaches. I brought one of my receivers up with me to work with me and we had a pretty good showing. It was a good workout."

Louisville assistant Jay Johnson has been the primary recruiting contact with Favor. On Sunday, Favor showed off a strong, accurate arm and the ability to move well outside the pocket. In high school, Favor works primarily out of the shot-gun and worked to improve under center at the Louisville camp.

"I got to talk to Coach (Matt) Wells, Coach (Jay) Johnson and Coach Kragthorpe," Favor said. "They told me I had a strong arm and to keep up the good work. They also told me I have to keep working on taking snaps from under center because we work out of the (shot) gun in high school. That was the hardest thing I had to do today. They taught me a couple things that helped."

Louisville has been recruiting Favor all spring. Jay Johnson attended his school's spring game and kept in touch since. Now, Favor is hoping to hear from Louisville this week about a scholarship offer.

"They are going to call and let me know hopefully (Monday) about their decision," Favor said. "I've been talking with them since spring after they visited down here. They showed us around after camp and said they had to sit down and (talk) about an offer. He (Johnson) said after they meet he'd call and let me know."

Favor currently has offers from Southern Miss and Arkansas State. He's hoping to land a few SEC offers later this month when he attends camps at Auburn, Mississippi and Mississippi State.

"I go to Auburn July 18, Mississippi State July 24 and Mississippi on the 25th," said Favor. Favor said the Bulldogs are talking about making him an offer.
