No. 3 2011 big man visiting Louisville again

Zach Price, the No. 3 center prospect in the Class of 2011, has already made one unofficial visit to Louisville this summer. The athletic 6'10 prospect says he has strong interest in the Cardinals and plans to check out Louisville again next month.

Rick Pitino is trying to put together a nasty 2011 recruiting class.

Louisville already has verbal commitments from 6'11 four-star center Michael Chandler and 6'6 four-star small forward Ryan Taylor. The Cardinals are also hot and heavy after a pair of five-star backcourt prospects – PG Marquis Teague and SG Wayne Blackshear. That would leave just one spot unaccounted for - power forward.

That's where 6'10, 210 pound Zach Price fits into the puzzle. Louisville made Price a high priority prospect in July after hosting him on an unofficial visit in June. Cardinals assistant Steve Masiello has convinced Price and several family members to make a return visit early next month when the Louisville football team opens the season against Indiana State.

Zach Price will visit Louisville again
next month.

"I'm going to Louisville September 5 for sure," Price said. "This upcoming visit I've basically got the same people coming with me as the last one and I think we're going to be attending the football game. My uncle and aunt and my stepdad and mom are coming down with me."

Masiello is the front-man with Price for Louisville and his ground-work has made the Cardinals strong contenders in his recruitment. "We've been talking to him a lot - both me and my stepdad," said Price. "I would describe my interest in Louisville as being pretty high up there because they're showing a lot of interest and dedication during the recruitment process. But it's still the same as everybody. I'm keeping my options open."

Though Price is listed as the No. 3 center prospect in the nation by Scout.com, Pitino thinks his future at the next level is at power forward. A gifted shot-blocker who runs the court well, Price averaged 13 points, eight rebounds and nine blocked shots as a junior.

"(Louisville) said they would basically try to make me a more diverse big man and play me at the four position," Price said. "That's cool with me."

Price said Florida, Oklahoma, Michigan State and Louisville are the schools recruiting him the hardest. He also holds offer from Ohio State, Wake Forest, Minnesota, Indiana and Wisconsin. "There's a wide list but those are the schools that are recruiting me hard right now and I want to see more of," Price said, adding that he would try to visit those other schools this year.

As for a decision, Price said he likely wouldn't make one until after his junior season.
