Status of current prospects

Ryan Holifield

ITV has talked to a number of coaches and players the past two days to determine the status of their recruiting process.

From all accounts OL Ryan Holifield had a great visit to Louisville this past weekend. An announcement on his decision is expected Friday. Holifield does appear to be a Louisville lean and I believe that he will be a Cardinal on national signing day.

DB Eric Brock has one last visit, which will to Auburn this weekend. This past weekend was an extremely busy one for Brock and two of his teammates from Benjamin Russell High School, as they visited Louisville and then UAB on Sunday and Monday. Eric told me this afternoon that Auburn, LSU and Alabama are his current favorites. I believe that Eric will commit to Auburn following his visit.

DE Marqueis Gunn also visited Louisville and UAB over the January 24 weekend. He has all ready visited Arkansas and Auburn as well. Louisville head coach Bobby Petrino will be in Alabama on Thursday to meet with the trio from Alexander City to make one more last minute pitch. Gunn's favorites are Arkansas, Auburn, Alabama and Louisville.

Going straight from high school to the Arena League is what OL Richard Oliver appears to be planning. His mother informed me this evening that her son is going to try out for the Birmingham Steeldogs and will not play college football.

Four star DB Michael Hinton has narrowed his choices to NC State, Virginia Tech and Florida State.

This afternoon the Colorado Buffalo's had a coach visit LB Alonzo Barrett and received his commitment while they were there.

According to Benjamin Russell head coach Martin, WR Jonathan Russell, had a great visit to Louisville. He also joined Gunn and Brock on thier visit to UAB. Both U of L and UAB have offered. Russell is leaning "strongly" towards the Cardinals and could commit to Coach Petrino on Thursday.

Also, despite reports from others sites covering his recruitment, DB William Gay is a firm commitment to Louisville.

Stay tuned to ITV, as we approach national signing day, for up to the minute news on future commitments.
