Strong lands commitment from Miami speedster
The Charlie Strong era is off to a fast start as he has landed his first verbal commitment for the class of 2010, running back Corvin Lamb, who chose Louisville over Mississippi State, North Carolina, Nebraska and others. Lamb, from Miami (FL) Northwestern is 5'10 185-pounds and has run as low as 4.31. "Coach Strong was real excited," Lamb said. "I mean he was real excited and everything. I am real excited to play early and can't wait. I need to step up my game and help out the team. I want to help the team compete for conference and national championships." Lamb described his game. "I am a very fast athlete that can get in and out of tight spaces quickly. I can catch the ball out of the backfield and play some punt return and kick return. I would describe myself as a playmaker that wants to help the team win." Lamb isn't the only one who is excited about this decision. "My parents were screaming and stuff and real happy to have this decision out of the way. I am taking my official visit January 8th and the week after that Coach Strong will make his in home visit with me." Could one of Lamb's teammates be next for the Cardinals? "Michaelee Harris is one of my best friends and we were together most of the day today. I am definitely going to recruit more than a few players that I know." Scout.Com Biography Corvin Lamb didn't start as a junior but he did have five kick returns for touchdowns. He also had 24 carries for 203 yards and three scores. He says he can bench 315-pounds, squat 405 and has a 32.5-inch vertical jump. Final senior (10-2) stats: 945 yards rushing and 16 touchdowns on only 95 carries. Lamb plans to major in sports medicine and reports a 2.7 core GPA and a 17 retake ACT. One of the fastest players in the entire state, Lamb won the National AAU event in the 100m and 200m. He played behind a couple of Division 1 caliber juniors as a sophomore and was moved to receiver as a junior to get more involved in the offense. He had 31 carries for 350 yards and 4 scores as a sophomore. Corvin Lamb: "I'm very versatile. I can move outside and play wide receiver too. I'm hard to cover because I'm very fast. I move well and play with speed. "I want to improve my lateral movement. And cutting back. I want better footwork."
