McClung excited about Louisville visit

Anthony McClung, a speedy two-star wide receiver from Indianapolis (IN) Pike, recently received a qualifying ACT test score. That news immediately resulted in increased attention from two Big East programs. In fact, Louisville offered a scholarship and the 6'0, 165-pound McClung will visit the Cardinals this weekend.

Anthony McClung was shocked – and excited – when he learned that Louisville had offered a scholarship last Friday.

"It was kind of shocking, it was out of nowhere actually," McClung said. "Coach Morris called me after school Friday and told me to come back to school because he had good news and he told me that Louisville offered me. They were recruiting me until their coach got fired or whatever happen. I didn't know what was going to happen but I was still interested in Louisville. And they just called and offered me."

Shortly after learning that Louisville made an offer, McClung was on the phone with Louisville head coach Charlie Strong. That conversation led to an official visit to UofL this weekend.

Anthony McClung has Big East visits set.
"I talked to Coach Strong," McClung said. "He asked me when I was going to come on a visit. I'm going this weekend. And we talked about what kind of offense they're going to run. He says their going to run the spread. He said we'll talk more this weekend."

McClung, an elusive target with 4.4 speed, had over 1,000 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns the past two seasons. As a senior, McClung recorded 25 receptions for 649 yards and seven touchdowns.

"He said I'm going to play the slot like I did in high school," McClung said. "I have very high interest in Louisville. I'll probably decide where I'm going in the next couple weeks."

West Virginia also jumped in the mix with McClung once he qualified. The No. 20 rated prospect Indiana might make an official visit to Morgantown next week. McClung said the Mountaineers have not offered a scholarship yet.

"I might go to West Virginia next weekend," said McClung. "They said they have to evaluate my film first before they decide what they're going to do about an offer."

McClung also has offers from Ball State and Illinois State. Is there a chance McClung could commit to Louisville during his visit?

"I don't know," McClung said.
