Will LB Preston Brown switch commitment?
Preston Brown was all set to play for hometown Cincinnati until Brian Kelly left for Notre Dame. Now, Brown is considering other options besides the Bearcats and plans to announce his decision on National Signing Day. "It's down to three right now..UC, Louisville and Minnesota," Brown said. Brown made an official visit to Louisville two weeks ago and gave the trip positive marks. "It was cool. Everything went smooth," Brown said. "It's nice. They have real cool players down there. I like all the coaches. The [stadium] was nice and the in-door facility was great. The only thing was the weight-room was a little small." Will Preston Brown change his commitment? Brown is still considering Cincinnati and has met new head coach Butch Jones and his coaching staff. "They're all real nice but they seemed like they were new," Brown said. "At Louisville they seemed like they've been there for 10 years. They just ran smoother. Communicating with the coaches at Cincinnati they were new and fresh. At Louisville, they felt like they were more comfortable and had been there a while." Will that impact Brown's decision? "I'm not sure," Brown said. Brown visited Minnesota in November and the Gophers are also in the running. "I really like the linebacker coach, he's been down here a lot," Brown said. "I like the new stadium. They've got new facilities." Minnesota has an in-home visit scheduled with Brown on Saturday, and Cincinnati is expected to visit him at school. Louisville coach Charlie Strong and assistant Mike Sanford made an in-home visit with Brown last week. "It went good," Brown said. "They weren't really recruiting me. It was more just a chill, laid back kind of visit. I like Coach Strong a lot, he's real cool. He seems like he wants to win and he will get the job done. They're looking at me for the middle of their 3-3 scheme but they'll move me around. That's fine with me." Brown said he'll base his decision on which school is best for him. "Staying close to home is alright but I really just have to see if the place is right for me from an education standpoint and what I can get done," Brown said. "I want to major in education." So who will the 6'3, 230-pound linebacker choose next week? Brown has a photo of him wearing a Louisville jersey taken during his visit to UofL on his Facebook page. Is that a clue about his decision? "I just liked the picture," Brown said with a laugh. "I don't want to tip my hand."
