Rogers switching? Decision soon

Charlie Strong made an in-home visit Thursday night with three-star Port St. Lucie (FL) Treasure Coast linebacker Deon Rogers. Rogers, who visited Louisville this month, said the meeting went great. Did Strong sway the star Georgia commit? Rogers' decision is coming soon...

Deon Rogers is down to two schools – Georgia and Louisville.

A Georgia commitment, the three-star linebacker had an in-home visit with Charlie Strong Thursday night and said Friday afternoon he'll announce his decision this weekend.

"It went good," Rogers said. "He met my mom and said he really wants me to come to Louisville. He's trying to make things happen at Louisville and he thinks I can help him do that. He thinks I can help with my speed because I get to the ball fast. I have a nose for the ball and I can hit. He feels I can make a quick impact."

Did the visit sway Rogers? "I guess you can say that," Rogers said. "I'm going to announce soon, probably this weekend. I've been praying a lot, talking to my coaches."

Strong has made Rogers one of Louisville's primary targets since taking over in December. He brought Rogers up for a visit earlier this month and has continued to work the talented linebacker hard heading into Wednesday's signing day.

"The main thing I'm really looking for is being comfortable, I've just got be be really comfortable whichever school I choose," Rogers said. "I felt pretty comfortable at Louisville when I went up for my visit. I felt comfortable with Coach Strong and all the coaches and the players were alright, too. I like all the coaches."

Rogers committed to Georgia last fall, but the the defensive staff that recruited him was fired after the season by Mark Richt.

"I was really close to the linebacker coach that recruited me and I really liked him," Rogers said. "I had a good relationship with him but [he's gone]."
