Louisville first offer for Terrell

Robert Terrell, a 6-1, 245-pound linebacker from Russellville, Ala., is receiving considerable attention from several SEC schools this spring. Despite that interest, it was a Big East school – Louisville – who gave Terrell his first offer this week.

While Robert Terrell is getting considerable attention from SEC schools this spring, it was a Big East program that sent the first offer this week.

The 6-foot-1, 245-pound middle linebacker from Russellville, Ala., picked up an offer from Louisville on Monday. It was an offer that excited the talented defensive prospect.

"I thought it was a great offer," Terrell said. "When I was in Pennsylvania Louisville was one of my first choices. I'm really excited about the offer."

Terrell recently moved from Harrisburg, PA, to Alabama. Since moving back to the south – Terrell originally is from Mississippi – Terrell has been receiving strong attention from several SEC programs. Terrell's father said his son was going to call the Louisville coaches Tuesday evening to express his interest in the Cardinals.

"We're going to call them and thank them for the offer and let them know how interested we are in coming to visit [Louisville]," Robert Terrell said.

Terrell is planning to visit Louisville this spring to check out the Cardinals.

"It's a good football program and they seem to have a good atmosphere there," Terrell said. "I've heard really good things about it. I plan to visit Louisville this spring."

Alabama, Auburn, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Vanderbilt are also showing interest. Terrell said Tennessee and Vanderbilt appear close to offering him a scholarship. He attended junior days at Auburn and Mississippi recently and plans to visit Alabama and Maryland this spring.

As a junior, Terrell made 125 tackles, 12 sacks and forced two fumbles. He also rushed for 200 yards on 32 carries on offense. He projects as a linebacker at the next level.

"I'm pretty versatile," Terrell said. "At linebacker I bring a lot of intensity to that position. I'm more of a go-getter. I like to go all-out on the field."
