Dixon is particularly interested in Louisville, which offered a scholarship in March. Since then, Louisville assistant Mike Groh, who worked at Alabama last season under Nick Saban, has developed a strong relationship with the talented cornerback.
"I've been talking with Coach Groh on the phone and he just makes me feel welcome. If I went there I'd feel like if I was at home," Dixon said.
Dixon says that Louisville and Notre Dame are the two teams that standout on his list and he's planning to visit both programs next month.
"I like them about the same," said Dixon. "Right now I'm evaluating the two schools. Really Notre Dame is on top because they graduate 97 percent of their students. I want to major in Engineering and they have a [respected] engineering program.
"I'm going to check out Louisville, Notre Dame and South Florida. June 13th is when I'm going to Louisville and after we leave there I'll be going straight to Notre Dame."
What stands out about Louisville? Why have the Cardinals emerged as one of Dixon's favorites?
"One thing is Charlie Strong. He's one of the best defensive coaches in the country," said Dixon. "He's put a lot of DB's in the NFL. I haven't talked to him yet but I talk to Coach Groh. I call him once a week. He was down here at our practice [Thursday]. I broke up a couple of passes that day."
