Three-star RB talks Louisville

Lake Worth (FL) Park Vista running back Tre Mason is a hot prospect this spring. The three-star prospect has more than ten offers, and picked up another offer recently from Louisville.

Tre Mason, a three-star running back from Lake Worth (FL) Park Vista, is a hot prospect this spring. Mason already has picked up several BCS offers this spring, and claims one from Louisville.

"I'm really excited about the offer," Mason said. "I haven't talked to anybody at Louisville yet, but they talked to my head coach. He told me they had a pretty good offense. I'm trying to figure out more about Louisville. I know they've got a pretty good offense so I'm doing my research on Louisville."

Mason rushed for 1,460 yards and 24 touchdowns as a junior, earning third team 6A all-state honors. He was also named the Palm Beach Large School Offensive Player of the Year and was an All-Palm Beach selection by the Sun-Sentinel.

"Spring practice is going real good right now," Mason said. "We've probably got one of the biggest o-lines in the state of Florida and I should rush for 2,000 yards next season. "

Ranked the No. 34 running back nationally, Mason also has offers from Cincinnati, Duke, FIU, FAU, Maryland, Minnesota, Ole Miss, Rutgers and Wisconsin. While he's not ready to name favorites, he is waiting to see if Florida will offer.

"Nobody is really standing out," Mason said. "I'm still open and looking for more offers right now. Most likely I will but if I don't I'll make my decision. But I don't know when I'll make my decision."

Mason hasn't made any visits this spring, but plans to check out a few schools this summer.

"I plan on visiting Florida, Rutgers and Miami," Mason said. "I've been talking to (Florida assistant) Coach [Zach] Azzani and he said he's not trying to rush things with his running backs. Hopefully I get an offer. I'm just waiting patiently."

Rutgers is one school that has offered that stands out to Mason. "I have a really good relationship with a lot of their coaches," said Mason.

Blessed with 4.4 forty speed, Mason knows what he's looking for in college. "I'm just looking for a school where I can get playing time and get the ball," Mason said. "I feel like I can fit in with the spread offense or I-formation. I feel like I'm a playmaker, not just a running back. The relationship with the coaches is also going to be a deciding factor in picking a school."

Besides Rutgers, Mason said he also feels comfortable with the coaches at Ole Miss. With his schools spring game scheduled for May 27, Mason said Florida, Wake Forest, Kentucky, Miami, Florida State and Rutgers have told him they plan to attend.
