Biography:
OUTLOOK: He is listed as the Hogs’ starting left guard heading into preseason drills. He will face fierce competition from Nathan Ball for the starting nod. He played in just three games last season while backing La’Zerius White. His most significant action came against Central Florida. 2001: Appeared in three games (Alabama, Weber State and Central Florida) for the UA offensive line at right guard. He played 62 snaps against Central Florida earning six knockdown blocks and graded 80 percent on running plays and 95 percent on passing plays against the Golden Knights for a total grade of 84 percent. 2000: Originally slated to be a backup to Josh Melton at center, he was moved to guard in preseason drills. He played in nine games last season including the Las Vegas Bowl. He logged 51 snaps against Louisiana-Monroe and graded out at 93 percent in passing plays. He played 19 snaps in the Hogs’ season-opener against Southwest Missouri State. 1999: He had an impressive season on the scout team as a center and was equally impressive with his work in the weight room. HIGH SCHOOL CAREER: He was the state weightlifting champion and the AAU state power lifting champion. He was Arkansas’ initial commitment in the 1999 recruiting class. Max Emfinger ranked him the No. 6 center in the South. He made the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette and Arkansas Recruiting Report Super Teams. Coached by Donald Rosen, he played tackle on both sides of the line of scrimmage. His team was 10-3 during his senior campaign. He earned all-state, all-district, All-Southern and All-America honors. He was picked for the Arkansas High School All-Star game. He also lettered in track. He was a National Football Foundation Hall of Fame Scholar Athlete. Ole Miss showed early interest but he pledged quickly to the Hogs. FROM HIS POSITION COACH: Mike Markuson (offensive line) – “Scott is a very strong guy that has good leverage. He has to deliver a blow. The positive thing about Scott is when he plays with his pads down and at full speed, he is tough to get around when he locks on you. He had a good spring. He has played in some games, but now it is time for him to step up and have a great year for us.” INSIDE INFORMATION: My favorite Razorback tradition is “running through the ‘A’ with 72,000 fans cheering for you.” Other than the seven-overtime victory at Ole Miss, my most memorable game is “Central Florida because that was my first start as a Hog.” The team/player I am most looking forward to playing this year is “Tennessee, one of my high school teammates, Cedric Houston, plays for them.” If I could play in any college football stadium other than Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium, I would choose “Tennessee because, other than Razorback Stadium, their stadium is the best.” Away from football, I enjoy “being with my wife, Sarah, and playing video games.” My greatest strength and/or quality is “God, I'm a very religious person.” Following the Sept. 11 tragedy, my perspective on life has changed “because I try to live my life in a way that I can be proud and I try to take nothing for granted.” Following my football career, I see myself “coaching high school football and making an impact on young people’s lives.” If I could have dinner with anyone, living or dead, I would choose “to eat with ‘The Rock’ from the WWF.” My favorite saying or expression is “‘CTR,’ choose the right.” My teammate that will be the biggest surprise this season is “the whole team because we ha
